The wood is from renewable forest plantations so its ecologically friendly. Hand made in India, the top of the candlestick has  a metal plate to hold a medium to large pillar candle. The stem of the candlestick can be removed from the base by unscrewing it. The wood is stained with a purple dye and then waxed to bring out the colour and grain and give it a semi gloss finish.
